TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Marrakech / Ait Ben Haddou / Ourzazate

Depart Marrakech at 8:00 in the morning for Ouarzazate. We will pass through Tizi n’Tichka, a mountain pass in the Atlas Mountains that is 2,260 meters above sea level. After passing through the Atlas Mountains, we will visit a popular tourist attraction, Glaoui Kasbah of Telouet. This unique historic building was once the home to T’hami el Glaoui, the governor of Marrakesh, and his family in the early twentieth century.

We will pass through various Berber villages, and finally arrive at Ourzazate, an incredible fortified city that is more than 800 years old. Here, we will visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which is under UNESCO World Heritage protection. Many famous movies have been filmed here, including Gladiator, The Kingdom of Heaven, and Lawrence of Arabia. After the visit to the Kasbah, you will have the option to visit the film studio. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Ouarzazate / Agdez / Draa Valley / Tazarrine / Gorges of Mharech (track of Dakar)

After breakfast, we will depart in the direction of the Zagora Desert. Before exiting Ourzazate, we will visit Taourirt Kasbah, another popular kasbah for which Ourzazate is known. We will cross the Anti Atlas Mountains through the beautiful mountain pass of Tizi n Tinifift at 1600 meters above sea level, and make our way to Agdez, a beautiful town that is characterized by many palm trees. This is the beginning of the Draa Valley, which is found along the Draa River, the longest river in Morocco.

Here, we will have the opportunity to visit Berber villages and kasbahs. Then, we will pass through several towns, including Tazarrine in the province of Zagora, Alnif, and the palm grove of N’kob. Finally, we will arrive at the Mharech canyons. Dinner and overnight in a riad.

Day 3: Mhrech / Ramlia / Ouzina / Merzouga

After breakfast, you will go all the way round the dunes via the oasis of MERZOUGA, the nomadic depository, KHAMLIA village (Blacks’ village You’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations, you’ll leave for Rissani. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuktu in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths.

After a lunch pizza in Rissani you will travel back to your riad where where your camel will be awaiting you. After a glass of mint tea. After lunch we will make our way to start our camel trek. All unnecessary luggages can be left in safe rooms at the hotel. The 90 minute camel trek will take us to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the highest in North Africa.

The camp consists of several comfortable Berber tents equipped with mattresses and linen, a restaurant, a kitchen. The evening will consist of dinner followed by entertainment provided by Berber drums, ( unforgettable night).

Day 4: MERZOUGA Desert Erg chbbi

We will wake up at dawn to watch the sunrise in the desert and then ride the camels back to the hotel. We will shower and have breakfast at the hotel.

The day will be spent exploring Merzouga, taking a drive out around the dunes, and stopping at Cafe Tissardmine, a beautiful and relaxing desert guesthouse. We will stop in the Gnawa village of Khamlia to relax and enjoy Gnawa music played by the people of the village.

Afterwards, we will return to the hotel and have lunch. The afternoon and evening will be free to climb the dunes, go sand boarding, or watch the sunset. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Merzouga / Rissani / Todra Gorge  / Dades Valley

We depart Merzouga in the direction of the town of Rissani, the capital of the Alaouite Dynasty in Morocco. We will continue on in the direction of Erfoud, rich in black stone and fossils. Here you will have the option to stop at a stone shop. We will pass through Telouet, visit the impressive Todra Gorge, and arrive in Dades Valley in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6:  Dades Valley / Valley of the Roses / Skoura / Marrakech

Depart Dades Valley by route of the ‘Thousand Kasbahs,’ along which some kasbahs have already been visited earlier on in this trip. We will pass through the stunning Valley of the Roses, where cosmetic goods are made from harvested roses and a yearly festival is celebrated. Then we will arrive at the palm grove of Skoura, overlooking beautiful kasbahs. From this point, we will begin our return to Marrakech. Drop off at your riad or hotel. End of our services
